What is a Composite Door?

Composite doors are designed from a combination of materials, often involving a solid timber core with uPVC. The purpose of these doors was to enhance characteristics found in single material doors, mainly security and thermal efficiency.

They can be tailored to meet your standards, and can be as unique as you wish. From multiple colour options such as standard white to real wood grain effects, we can help you achieve the look you want. You can even personalise hardware options with a number of configurations such as gold, chrome or black hardware.

Specialist Frame Anchors: Multiple fixing points strategically located to secure the door frame to your property.
Secure Glazing: Internally beaded, silicone fixed glazing cassettes utilising the same argon-filled sealed units as our A-rated window.
Laminated & Toughened Glass: For impact-resistance, security and safety.
Insulating Core: Dense insulation for exceptional levels of energy performance, and enhances strength when locked.
Locking Handle Deadbolt: One of many locking points situated around the door to maximise security.
Highest Specification Locking Cylinder: 3-Star maximum rated lock barrel, to Police-preferred Secured by Design Standards ; Anti-snap, anti-bump and anti-pick.
Security Hinges: 3 zinc/aluminium inner hinges that meet Secured By Design standards.
Hook Locks: Two hook locks located at the top and bottom of the door, to lock the door slab securely to the frame.
Colours: Standard colours- a range of 9 external colours with a white interior as standard. Having both sides coloured is also an option.
Premium colours: Diverse range of premium colours are created using state of the art coating technologies. The paint has been prepared to the recommended gloss level, which range from a semi-matt, satin or semi-gloss sheen depending on the colour.

Durability and Strength: Our doors contain a hardwood laminated timber subframe. This provides structural rigidity and is considerably stronger than a normal timber frame. The Steel-Reinforced Frame is a multichambered design for greater structural strength and thermal insulation. We also use Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) for fascia. This material is a robust, high impact-resistant, and has a long-lasting colour finish. Due to these characteristics, it is also found in the hulls of yachts, as well as sports cars.

Secured by Design: Secured by Design is a police initiative to adopt crime prevention measures to create safer, more secure and sustainable homes. Our EHI Prestige Composite™ door incorporates Secured by Design Standard products, including the ATK 3-Star locking cylinder and security hinge. This combined with a thick composite door core makes one of the most secure doors on the market. The ATK euro profile cylinder has been designed to provide maximum resistance against known methods of attack. The TS007 standard has been designed to measure attacks against door cylinders, and is characterised by a rating system where 3 Stars is the highest, most secure.

The Avocet ATK lock has the maximum 3-Star rating, and features the unique patented locking cam that effectively combats against lock snapping. This locking mechanism contains the following features:

Anti-snap
Anti-drill
Anti-bump
Anti-screw

The locking cylinder also achieves the more stringent Sold Secure quality standard. The security hinge has also been independently tested to both PAS 023 and PAS 024 standards at the UKAS accredited Mila Test Centre. The hinge has a slim design and is manufactured from high performance zinc and aluminium alloy. We can thus confirm that it has the following features:

High performance tested and accredited
